Dreame Z30 An Amazing Vacuum Cleaner
A powerful, cordless vacuum cleaner with good autonomy and loaded with technology? I’ll take one! I’ve tried the Dreame Z30, and in this review, I’ll share my opinions.
If you’re still dragging around a bulky vacuum cleaner with tubes, cables, and typically loud noise, I’m sorry to say you’re outdated. Now, it’s all about upright vacuum cleaners, especially cordless ones.
The Dreame Z30 is a handheld cordless vacuum cleaner from the Asian brand Dreame, the same company that recently gave me the opportunity to test another product, the Dreame L40 Ultra robotic vacuum.
The Z30 is a more conventional product in that it’s not an intelligent robot, though it does come loaded with technology. It’s designed to make life easier for pet owners, even featuring a specific accessory for collecting pet hair.
A suction base that reminds me of Men in Black
Remember when Will Smith was blasting away at creatures in Men in Black? Well, the base of this cordless vacuum cleaner reminded me a lot of that scene.
The Dreame Z30 includes a base, referred to by the brand as the vacuum’s body, which functions as the motor, dirt reservoir, control center, and attachment holder.
It’s a separate piece weighing just 2.2 kilograms, making it easy to handle with one hand. It also has an ergonomic shape that aids in grip.
On the front is a 0.6-liter dirt reservoir, which empties by pressing a button on the bottom to unlock the lid and dump the contents. The reservoir is also fully removable.
On the back, facing you when you hold the vacuum, is a color screen with two buttons: the mode selector (Auto, Eco, or Strong) and the power button.
The screen also provides real-time updates as you vacuum, showing particles filtered and remaining battery life.
Near the base of the vacuum is the charging port and an LED that displays battery status when plugged in (while the screen shows the exact %).
Finally, there’s a charging base—a simple stand where the vacuum can rest when attached to a cleaning accessory, keeping three additional accessories handy for easy swapping.
A host of accessories included in the box
I’ve never encountered a vacuum that came with as many accessories as the Dreame Z30.
In total, there are 10 accessories, including:
- 1 large soft roller brush with lighting
- 1 large multi-surface brush with lighting
- 1 mini electric brush
- 1 soft dusting roller brush
- 1 soft dusting brush
- 1 pet hair tool
- 1 combination tool
- 1 flexible adapter
- 1 extension hose
- 1 extension pole
You’ll find everything from a flexible adapter for vacuuming under furniture, like sofas, to a soft rotating brush for dusting delicate surfaces.
There’s also the pet hair tool, a hair-collecting brush that can be pressed and vacuumed to absorb all the pet hair.
The only downside is finding storage for all these accessories, as the charging base only holds up to three. A storage organizer for accessories that could fit in a closet would be a welcome addition.
Powerful cleaning that rivals a traditional vacuum
The vacuum’s power is 310 AW. As the manufacturer notes, it’s the most powerful cordless vacuum in their lineup as of May 2024, thanks to its 150,000 rpm TurboMotor technology.
While the economy mode does a good job, it’s in maximum power mode that you’ll truly feel you don’t miss your old corded vacuum.
Yes, it makes noise, but it has impressive suction, and the blue light on several heads reminds you of areas that need extra attention (especially if you have pets).
Technically speaking, the Dreame Z30 cordless vacuum features a HEPA filtration system for particles ≥0.1 μm and 99.9% efficiency in filtering bacteria and viruses.
8 batteries of 3,200 mAh for a session that might run short on max power mode
The Dreame Z30 comes equipped with no less than 8 batteries of 3,200 mAh each.
The manufacturer certifies a maximum runtime of 90 minutes, though keep in mind that this is in Eco mode. The battery takes about 4 hours to fully recharge.
However, in maximum power mode, you’ll notice the battery level drops quickly—around 5% at a time—requiring at least one recharge to complete a deep clean.
Verdict: a fantastic option to upgrade your home vacuum (especially if you’re a clean freak who’ll make the most of the accessories)
The Dreame Z30 struck me as a powerful and convenient vacuum, suitable for deep cleaning around the home without the hassle of dealing with cables and tubes from room to room.
The fact that it comes with ten accessories in the box (each quite varied) is a major plus, adding versatility to the vacuum. However, I do miss having a case to store them all together.
Personally, I don’t find much value in the CelesTect technology that lights up the floor as you clean, nor do I see the need for a screen (which likely raises the product’s cost) when a traditional LED could convey the same limited information.
I was also disappointed by the charging base, which is really just a stand (as it doesn’t actually charge; the cable connects directly to the vacuum). Additionally, depending on the accessory attached, it can sometimes be tricky to place the vacuum in the exact position to keep it standing.
At its current sale price of €499 on the official website, it seems like a highly recommended purchase if it’s time to upgrade your home vacuum. However, at this price range, you might also consider checking out a robotic vacuum to make life a bit easier.
