We want to tell you that we have been testing the Oppo Watch X as my personal watch for several weeks, and it has quickly become one of my favorites, not only for its high-end specifications, but also for its affordable price.
Oppo has been one of the companies that has presented the most products throughout this year, achieving a more than enviable ecosystem today. So, after the landing of its AI-powered phones, the time has come for its watch, the Oppo Watch X.
I’ve been wearing it for several weeks as my personal watch, and not only is its design eye-catching, but I think it’s one of the best and most complete smartwatches I’ve ever tried.
The design of the Oppo Watch X is reminiscent of the OnePlus Watch 2, and that’s a very positive thing
Several months ago, I was able to analyze the OnePlus Watch 2 – a brand owned by Oppo – and the design of the Oppo Watch X has brought back very good memories, as the materials chosen are exactly the same.
This watch is made from materials typical of the high end, with a stainless steel buckle, a plastic lower case (the part that is in direct contact with your wrist), an incredible scratch-proof sapphire crystal screen and a fluorinated rubber strap.
If you have tried this type of watch, you will know that some of them tend to be very uncomfortable to wear, due to their weight, or when sleeping, due to their bulky dimensions. In the case of this one, I have taken it everywhere, only taking it off to charge it.
So, I think it has become one of the most comfortable and lightest smartwatches of all those I have tried, with a strap weight of less than 100 grams. This means that you won’t even notice it’s there.
In my day-to-day life, I have made the most of it when hiking in the mountains and on slightly more complicated treks. And I can assure you that I would have forgotten about it, if not for the vibration it gives when finishing or pausing sports activities.
In short, the Oppo Watch X is a very eye-catching watch that is very bulky, but that will not bother you on any occasion, not even when sleeping or doing sports activities of any kind.
With the sapphire crystal on the Oppo Watch X’s screen, you won’t have to worry about
scratches or bumps, to which it adds outstanding quality
As for its screen, with the Oppo Watch you won’t have to worry about scratches or drops, plus it’s a fully utilized panel, where everything is perfectly readable, even outdoors in direct sunlight.
Although its brightness is usually around 600 nits, it is capable of reaching 1,000 nits in these types of situations, so you will have no problem going outside and being able to view the data of the exercise you are performing.
Once again, it is really very similar to its cousin, the OnePlus Watch 2, so it seems that Oppo has managed to add all the best features of that other watch to its own, also in terms of the software, with Google as the protagonist.
Google Wear OS suits the Oppo Watch X very well
Google Wear OS 4 has been chosen as the operating system for the entire interface and the applications menu. This means that, if you use Android, the watch will connect easily – also from the brand’s own application – and you will have all its applications.
The integration with the watch is perfect. From the applications area you have access to the Play Store, with numerous apps designed to get the most out of your watch. In my case, I always consider the Spotify app essential for controlling music on my wrist.
But you’ll also find some others, mostly aimed at sports activities. In this sense, the choice of the Google system for the heart of the Oppo Watch X is another great success.
Sensors for almost everything and packed with sports features
As you can see in the specifications table at the beginning of this review, the Oppo Watch X has all kinds of sensors, including an optical one for measuring heart rate and another one as a pulse oximeter.
In both cases, the measurements are outstanding, as well as the sleep monitoring, with details on activities such as beats per minute, moments of rest or calorie burn by activity segments.
I must confess that, thanks to its comfort and elegance, it is a watch that you will want to wear everywhere. The watch is able to recognize what sporting activity you are doing and, consequently, will warn you if you want to start exercising.
However, the easiest way to access it is from the button on the lower right-hand side, which allows direct access to a myriad of exercises. In my case, I have been able to take full advantage of walks in the open air.
Its autonomy is not the best, but the Intelligent mode adapts it very well to your use
As for its autonomy, it is true that the Oppo Watch X does not have the best battery life on the market.
However, there are very positive points, such as its Smart mode. This mode makes the most of the battery. If you choose to keep it connected to your mobile phone at all times and access the different widgets or exercises, its battery life reaches 2 days.
However, in other cases this value increases, either because you don’t have the watch connected regularly or you use it sporadically.
After several weeks with the Oppo Watch X, I think it has become one of my favorites.
Not only for everything I have mentioned here, from its great design to other issues such as its charging or the fact that it comes with Google, but also for its price, one of the most competitive on the market.
