Realme has unveiled its new series of smartphones, the Realme GT 7, consisting of three models: the Realme GT 7, Realme GT7 T, and Realme GT 7 Dream Edition, a special version of the first, mid-high range, born from a collaboration between the Chinese brand and luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin.
I had the opportunity to try it out. Coming from another mid-range phone, the Vivo V50 Lite 5G, which is priced at less than $400, practically everything I found in this device surprised me for the better. Although everything can be qualified, since its price must be justified.
If you’re looking for an attractive design, high-quality photography, an ultra-bright screen, and a battery that lasts for hours, this smartphone could be your best friend, both for everyday tasks (checking emails, browsing social media, taking notes) and more demanding activities, such as playing video games or editing videos.
Taking all this into account, is it worth spending $749.99 on this phone? This is the price you have to pay for the basic configuration, as the advanced version (12 GB + 512 GB) increases the price to $799.99, not including launch offers.
There’s no doubt that it has everything: an interesting and distinctive design, with a mix of colors that you would never expect to see on a smartphone of this type, as well as a bright screen and more than decent battery life. However, I think the price is a bit high, considering that the high-end model, the Realme GT 7 Pro, starts at $719 and is logically better.
Even so, I would go for it because of its many pros, its unusual colors, a more stylish camera module, very good photo results, and a battery that is rarely found in a device at this price point. It is also superior to the more advanced model (7,000 mAh compared to 6,500 mAh in the other model).
However, I wouldn’t do the same with the Realme GT 7 Dream Edition, even though its color is exquisite, for $899.99. It’s true that if you buy it now, you get the Realme Buds Air7 Pro headphones as a gift, which also come in the same Aston Martin green color, so that could be an interesting selling point.
A sleek design, but nothing surprising
The Realme GT 7 is a phone that is practically identical to the Realme GT 7 Pro model. So much so that when I analyzed it, I thought I had this other device in my hands, similar to what happened to me with the Oppo Reno 13 Pro and the Oppo Reno 13. However, it has some nuances that distinguish it from the more advanced model.
I’m talking, for example, about the color, as this time around, the Mars Orange has been replaced by a very light and distinguished blue, known as IceSense Blue. The paradox is that the phone box itself comes with a silicone case that is matte black, more sober than it should be to highlight the color underneath.
Although it is customary to use this protector, those who dare to use the phone without it will be able to enjoy a smartphone that hardly shows any fingerprints, thanks to its graphene back panel, a material that is very pleasant to the touch and guarantees excellent thermal conductivity, as it never overheats.
Another major difference from the Pro model is that the camera frame is completely straight and does not have the slight curve found on the more advanced model, although it does copy the red lines surrounding the molding and the Hyperimage+ inscription. The on/off button also stands out in this color, a distinctive touch that breaks with the harmony of the blue of the rest of the device.
In terms of style, it is unrivalled, as it is a smudge-resistant phone that hardly gets dirty or, at least, hides dirt very efficiently. To round off its format, the brand has opted for a thickness of 8.3 mm and a weight of 206 grams, which are more than acceptable figures, in line with the high-end average, although I think they could be improved.
The screen is standard for this range, at 6.78 inches, flat, with a resolution of 2,780 x 1,264 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz that adapts to all kinds of tasks. Its brightness, at 6,000 nits, continues to place this Realme series at the forefront in this regard, as I have been able to use it in direct light without straining my eyes.
What I didn’t like so much, however, were the bezels, which make the panel seem underutilized by thickening the corners. The side bezels, on the other hand, are not at all annoying, nor is the speaker grille, which is barely noticeable, which is appreciated because it greatly limits the amount of dirt that can accumulate. The best thing about it, however, is that it barely distorts the sound.
In terms of connectivity, there are no major new features, but it has everything you need: it only supports USB-C charging, but it has NFC and Bluetooth 5.4, as well as support for WiFi 7 and dual-band GPS for improved location tracking. It also offers the option of Dual Nano SIM and supports an eSIM card.
It doesn’t overheat and the battery performs very well.
The new flagship Realme GT 7, like the special green Dream Edition, features a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e processor, which the brand unveiled in the middle of this month, making it one of the first phones to incorporate it in Europe.
It performs its function very well, thanks in large part to its GPU, which gives games console-quality lighting and, best of all, doesn’t overheat. This is because, in addition to the heat-dissipating material used in the back cover, it incorporates Smart Bypass technology.
Another feature of this solution is that it extends battery life, and although testing of this device has only lasted a few days, I can confirm that this is one of the most autonomous models in this segment.
Its 7,000 mAh battery not only charges at a rapid pace (going from 0 to 100 in just over 40 minutes), but also lasts for more than a day and a half of normal use, around five and a half hours. With slightly less use, around four hours, it easily reaches two days of battery life.
What’s also impressive is the rate at which it consumes power, speaking positively. Playing a video with the brightness and volume turned up to the maximum uses only 2% in just half an hour, so it’s more than enough to view content on different platforms almost non-stop. During calls, it barely budges, but when playing video games, as usual, it suffers a little more.
Regarding the software, it is worth mentioning that it offers the Realme UI 6.0 customization layer, based on Android 15, which is very intuitive, extremely simple, and not at all “cluttered,” as the bloatware is unobtrusive and easy to customize. It also supports interesting AI features, mainly focused on photography.
Outstanding camera, although there are no major differences between its photography modes
Compared to the previous generation, the Realme GT 7 has improved in terms of its software, but also in its hardware. Compared to the huge metal plate that previously occupied almost half of the back cover on the Realme GT 6, the brand’s new flagship killer brings everything related to this section together in one place.
The Realme GT 7 combines the following cameras in a single module:
50-megapixel 1.56“ IMX906 main rear camera (f/1.8).
50-megapixel 1/2.8” telephoto lens (f/2.0).
8-megapixel 1/4“ (f/2.4) ultra-wide angle.
32-megapixel 1/2.74” (f/2.4) selfie camera.
The Realme GT 7 is a good device but its price is very high
The Realme GT 7 proves that the brand remains committed to offering powerful and well-balanced devices in the affordable high-end segment. With a modern and elegant design, outstanding performance thanks to its latest-generation processor, and an AMOLED display with a high refresh rate, this model is clearly aimed at users looking for speed, fluidity, and a first-class multimedia experience.
Ultra-fast charging, one of Realme’s hallmark features, remains a strong point in the GT 7, allowing you to recharge your battery in a matter of minutes. Battery life is adequate, and its improved cooling system makes it ideal for intense gaming sessions or multitasking.
In terms of photography, while it doesn’t quite compete directly with the top-of-the-range models from more expensive brands, it offers very solid results in good lighting conditions and decent performance in night scenes, supported by AI-optimized software.
In short, the Realme GT 7 is an excellent choice for those looking for a smartphone with premium specifications, great performance, and good value for money. If you don’t need the most advanced cameras on the market but prioritize power, speed, and fast charging, this model is a highly recommended option.
